Amsoil GNCC – Snowshoe – Round 9

By | GNCC | No Comments

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, continued today, June 25, with the AMSOIL Snowshoe GNCC held at the popular Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. “America’s toughest race” lived up to its nickname after an abundant amount of rain fell in the days prior to the race creating slick and muddy conditions for the world’s fastest off-road ATV racers.

With the unique live engine start modeled after the famed Blackwater 100 race, Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich would find himself in a favorable position and lead the way into the woods. Once they checked through timing and scoring for the first time Fast Traxx/Wolf Racing’s Brian Wolf had taken over and was running in the lead position.

However, CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill would move into the lead by the conclusion of the second lap with N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler on his back tires.

While following McGill, Fowler would get stuck where he dropped back to the sixth place position. This allowed JMR/ATVriders.com/DWT’s Jarrod McClure to slide into second. By the third lap, Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis’ Brycen Neal had swapped positions for second place.

Neal would have a quick sprint in the lead position during the white flag until McGill would recover and take back over the lead. McGill held the lead position throughout the last lap where he would see the checkered flag first and take the win in front of his hometown friends and family.

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series continues in the fall, September 10 and 11, with the Parts Unlimited Unadilla GNCC at the popular Unadilla MX in New Berlin, New York.

Amsoil GNCC – Dunlop Tomahawk – Round 8

By | GNCC | No Comments

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, continued today in Odessa, New York with the Second Annual Dunlop Tomahawk GNCC. By the time the 1 p.m. Pro race kicked off the weather had turned around creating near perfect race conditions. At the conclusion of the two hour race it would be N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler crossing the line first with a commanding lead.

Fowler quickly capitalized on the open track and began pulling away from the rest of the field and gaining valuable time. Once he checked through timing and scoring for the first time he already had a 27-second lead ahead of Borich who still remained in second.

Meanwhile, Borich would find himself in a battle with CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill. Borich would ultimately end up losing his back brakes on the first lap which created an added challenge for the six-time champion. Borich and McGill spent the entirety of the race swapping positions.

While Fowler would take the victory by almost two minutes, Borich would end up finishing an impressive second overall after racing more than half the race without rear brakes. McGill rounded out the overall podium in third.

“I really couldn’t get it together today,” said McGill. “I really just tried to make a go of it today and charge the whole race. I made a few mistakes and could just never recover from them. This track is hard on me in general just do to the fact that it doesn’t fit my style and I just never have good luck here.”

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series continues with round nine on June 25 and 26 with the famed AMSOIL Snowshoe GNCC at the Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia.

Amsoil GNCC – Wiseco John Penton – Round 7

By | GNCC | No Comments

The AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, continued today, May 28, in the Buckeye State with the 27th Annual Wiseco John Penton GNCC held at the popular Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio. After facing hot and humid conditions for the first time this season, it would be N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler taking the overall win. Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich and Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis’ Brycen Neal would battle it out until the very end to round out the overall podium in second and third.

CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill had moved into second at the conclusion of the first lap. While Fowler would maintain the lead, McGill would slowly start gaining on the defending champion throughout the first half of the race.

With Fowler and McGill off in the distance, N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson was in the mix for third with Neal and Borich. The three would continue the close racing throughout the entire two-hour race.

Once Fowler took the white flag he found himself being pushed by McGill who was just a few seconds behind. McGill would end up getting stuck around the three mile marker where Fowler would lead the way to the finish claiming his fourth win of the season.

“I ended up getting caught up with a lapper and had to go back down the hill in order to try and get back up the hill climb,” said McGill. “Once I got to the bottom my quad wouldn’t start back and a fan was able to lend a hand and help me get it started again.”

Unfortunately Richardson would end up suffering from a mechanical issue on the last lap ultimately taking him out of a podium contention where he would end up finishing ninth in XC1 Pro and 17th overall.

While Fowler would cross the finish line first, Borich and Neal would continue the fight, but now for second and third with McGill and Richardson out of the race. Once they hit the famed Sunday Creek Motocross track, the two would exchange positions back and forth, with Borich taking the last double jump with an extra boost to cross the line in second with Neal following in third overall.

McGill would end up rebounding to finish just off the podium in fourth. Show Hauler/Canyon Motorsports/GBC’s Landon Wolfe landed his first top-five finish of the season in fifth, with Precision/Axis/Maxxis-backed Jay Shadron having an equally impressive ride in sixth.

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series continues with round eight on June 11 and 12 with the Dunlop Tomahawk GNCC at the Seneca Highland in Odessa, New York.

Amsoil GNCC – Limestone 100 – Round 6

By | GNCC | No Comments

Fowler would lead throughout the second lap, but would quickly begin to feel the pressure from Borich. While the battle for the lead was shaping up, McGill was busy working his way up from a ninth place start. By the second lap McGill found himself in the mix for the lead with Fowler and Borich. As the race wore on, Borich would finally work his way around the defending champion Fowler as he lead the pack.

Once the white flag came out, the entire XC1 field stepped up their game. With multiple lead changes between Fowler, Borich and McGill the racing action was nothing short of exciting. Neal was sitting just a few seconds behind in fourth. As the top three came through the pro pits for the last time it would be Borich and McGill battling it out for the top spot with Fowler right behind them. Borich would end up heading into a turn too fast and clipping the berm, ultimately flipping him off the quad. McGill saw the open rut and capitalized on Borich’s mistake taking the inside line and the overall win.

“I didn’t actually lead the race until the last lap,” said McGill. “I just had to ride a smart race and my bike setup was just perfect from the tires to the motor. Once Chris’ back end picked up I saw the inside line and just drove it through for the win.”

Amsoil GNCC – CST Tires Camp Coker Bullet – Round 5

By | GNCC | No Comments

The temperatures were not the only thing heating up as the fifth round of the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, took place today, April 30, at the Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve in Society Hill, South Carolina. The racing action was nothing short of exciting with heated battles taking place all day long at the Inaugural CST Tires Camp Coker Bullet GNCC. By the time the 1 p.m. pro race had started the overcast skies turned into sunshine and the hot and humid day created a true testament of the racer’s fitness levels, but at the end of the grueling two-hour race it was CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill claiming the Inaugural win in the Palmetto State.

As the green flag dropped it was McGill who jumped out to the early lead and claiming the $250 Wiseco XC1 Holeshot Award. Once they crossed the finish line for the first lap McGill had a nine second lead over N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler in second.

With McGill and Fowler staying evenly spread in the top two positions, perhaps the best battle of the entire race was for the last podium position. Borich held onto the third place position throughout the second lap with N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson right behind him.

When McGill came across the white flag he was being pushed by Fowler who was only two seconds behind him. The fight for the lead tightened up once they hit the motocross track and Fowler was able to move past McGill. The lead was short lived once Fowler ran over a berm, but he was able to quickly rebound and still maintain the second place position.

The Honda rider, Adam McGill, would see the checkered flag first followed by Fowler and Borich in second and third. McClure would finish an impressive fourth place with Neal following in fifth and Richardson in sixth.

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series resumes May 14 and 15 with the Limestone 100 GNCC in Springville, Indiana.

Amsoil GNCC – Big Buck – Round 4

By | GNCC | No Comments

The Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, celebrated 20 years at the iconic Big Buck Farm today, April 16. After a jam-packed day of racing action at the VP Racing Farms Big Buck GNCC it was CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill who came out and top and took home to coveted overall win after a comeback performance.

As soon as the green flag dropped the XC1 Pro class was set for battle as they charged into the South Carolina woods. McGill and N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler looked to be the top two holeshot contenders until they met each other and made contact that ultimately took Fowler out and allowed for Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki-backed Chris Borich to grab the $250 Wiseco Holeshot Award.

After narrowly escaping the first turn crash, McGill was busy working his way up through the pack. By the second lap the West Virginia native found himself sitting in a podium position, but was hungry for more.

JMR/ATVriders.com/DWT’s Jarrod McClure was following in McGill’s footsteps where he moved from sixth place on the first lap to right behind McGill on the third lap.

As the white flag came out Neal was still sitting comfortably in first, but McGill was putting in one last charge for the win. With just a handful of turns remaining in the grueling two-hour race, McGill had shaved off 30 seconds on Neal and had his eyes set on taking gold.

When Neal and McGill emerged from the last wood’s section it was the number 521 leading the way. McGill would claim the coveted overall win with Neal crossing just one second behind him in second. McClure saw the checkered flag just seven seconds after the top two. The finish was good enough to land McClure his first podium of the season.

The 1 p.m. race and the UTV race were broadcast LIVE in their entirety on RacerTV.com and can be viewed as archived videos online by visiting the GNCC LIVE page online.

The 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series resumes April 30 and May 1 with the inaugural CST Tires Camp Coker Bullet GNCC in Union, South Carolina.

Amsoil GNCC – FMF Steele Creek – Round 3

By | GNCC | No Comments

As the first lap wore on, Fowler and Shadron began to separate themselves from the rest of the pack while the racing tightened up behind them. CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill and Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzukis Chris Borich began the fight for third.

On the second lap of the four-lap race, Fowler had pulled a twenty second lead on Shadron who still maintained the second place position until McGill was able to work his way around him. The racing action really heated up during the third lap where the top three racers were suddenly wheel-to-wheel all battling for the lead. With reports of Fowler looking down at his quad, the crowd anticipated an extra pit stop but was shocked when he decided to keep pushing.

The decision to keep racing and avoid an extra pit stop paid off in the end when Fowler crossed the finish line first. He was followed by last year’s Steele Creek GNCC winner, McGill, who made his first podium appearance of the season.

“It feels great to be back on the podium,” said McGill. “I felt like the bike was there the whole time this season and I just personally haven’t been ready, but now it’s all fitting together and it’s good to be back where I know I’m supposed to be.”

Amsoil GNCC – Maxxis Cannonball – Round 2

By | GNCC | No Comments

The second round of the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, took place March 12, at the Hill Family Farm in Sparta, Georgia. The brand-new Maxxis Cannonball GNCC provided plenty of racing action with N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler eventually taking home the inaugural win.

As the green flag dropped it was CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill who jumped out to the early lead claiming the $250 Wiseco Holeshot Award. McGill was able to escape the pileup behind him that involved Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis’ Brycen Neal and BNR/Moose Racing/Maxxis-backed Josh Merritt.

It would not take long for Fowler to make his way to the front of the pack, but Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich was right behind him. The two battled and passed the first place position to each other a couple of times, but eventually Fowler was able to see a clear trail pulling away in the last half-mile of the race.

Meanwhile, Neal was putting his training to use by pushing through the pack. After starting next to last, Neal spent the majority of the race battling with N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson and McGill.

McGill would finish the race with a solid fourth overall followed by JMR/ATVriders.com’s Jarrod McClure in fifth, Precision/Axis/Maxxis’ Jay Shadron in sixth and Merritt finished a remarkable seventh after his last place start. Show Hauler/Canyon Motorsports/GBC-backed Landon Wolfe placed eighth, Richardson in ninth and GBC/HMF/FLY Racing/Yamaha’s Johnny Gallagher rounded out the top 10 in the XC1 Pro class.

Amsoil GNCC – Wild Boar – Round 1

By | GNCC | No Comments

Fowler jumped out to an early lead grabbing the $250 Wiseco XC1 ATV Holeshot Award. As the XC1 Pro class headed into the woods it looked as if the new season was setting up to be a repeat of 2015. CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks-backed Adam McGill was right on Fowler’s back fender as they took to the Florida woods.

Borich and McGill battled throughout the middle of the race, but Borich would eventually pass McGill and take the last podium position.

JMR/ATVriders.com’s Jarrod McClure was able to sneak his way past McGill on the last lap where he crossed the checkers in fourth with McGill right on his tail in fifth.
