(N. Kingsville, OH) With all the anticipation for a new year of AMA ATV Motocross Nationals, a clean slate and new quads for all 20 riders, it was nerves and adrenaline swimming in the bodies of the fastest AMA ATV competitors while waiting for the gate to drop for moto one. As the gate dropped, Josh would come out of the Talladega first turn in third place. The quad worked well under the conditions of a very rough and dry track, but would take its toll on the #20 as he pushed himself to the limits and wore himself out just beyond the halfway point and relinquish his position by three. “My endurance isn’t where it should be and I need to go home and train some more. I felt physically great and had a good start, the bike worked well I just got a little tired. I hope that I can improve in the second moto”, stated Josh.

With the second moto gate drop, Josh found himself in a much better position rounding the curve in second place with a freight train of screaming quads on his tail. He knew if he could hold on and pace himself, he could gain some ground on the rider out front. However, going into a sharp option lane turn on the third lap the #20 would become stuck on a berm and have to wait for several riders to pass so that he could dismount and push the quad off the berm and get started again. With plenty of time to gain, his composure Josh raced through the physical demanding track and picked off riders one at a time while the clock ticked. At the checked flag, he had made his way up to fourteenth place, which gave him ninth overall for the weekend.

Josh said, “This was definitely an eye opener for me and now I know what I need to do for the next two weeks before heading to the next national”.
