Bowling Green KY April 18th RACE REPORT
(N. Kingsville, OH) Round two was held at multi-time GNCC champion Bill Balance’s MX Park. As always, Josh was able to come off the line in great position. At the halfway point and in third position it would be last year’s champion, Dustin Wimmer knocking on the bumper wanting the spot. The challenge went on for several grueling laps and at the checkered flag, Upperman would take 4th place for moto one.
In moto two, Josh would not have the start that he is notable for and found himself in mid-pack rounding out the first curve. As time ticked, Josh rode consistent and hard and was able to pick off riders and receive sixth place for moto two. This gave him sixth over all for the weekend.
Danville, VA May 2nd RACE REPORT
(N. Kingsville, OH) Round three was held at Birch Creek Moto Complex. Harold Goodman took the holeshot, but before the first lap was complete, Upperman and Wimmer would make a quick pass and start their crusade for the top position. Wimmer would take the award by a tire length and the Honda and Suzuki riders would battle for much of the first half moto. Just after the wave of the halfway flag, Josh found himself battling with Suzuki rider, Josh Creamer who was not going to settle for third place and passed Josh for the second position. Upperman stayed close, but was not able to make a clean pass. Moto one Josh took the third place spot.
In moto two, it was Wimmer out front, but in the shadows Josh would stay with him noticing that there was a problem with the Suzuki. Around the third lap, Dustin would loose his seat and fall back giving the #20 the lead and if he held, would give him his first #1 podium finish in the Pro Class. However, going into a rhythm section the TRX450 would come to a complete stop and all hopes of finishing the moto were gone as the quad would not re-fire. Josh would have to push the ATV through the finish line and take sixteenth place for moto two. “This is so disappointing for us. I feel we got a gift, but couldn’t ca pitalize on it”, said Mark Baldwin both Team Manager and Engine Builder. After a thorough tear down of the quad, Mark found the stator had burned out causing the Honda TRX450R to cease.
